    • Chamaerops humilis, also known as the European fan palm or dwarf palm, is a hardy and attractive palm that’s relatively easy to care for. Here are some care instructions to keep it thriving:

    • Prefers full sun to partial shade. It can handle direct sunlight but may need some protection from the hottest afternoon sun in very hot climates.
    • Water moderately. Allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings. Water more frequently during hot, dry periods.
    • Use well-draining soil. A mix of potting soil with sand or perlite works well to ensure good drainage and prevent root rot.
    • Chamaerops humilis is quite cold-hardy and can tolerate temperatures as low as -6°C.
    • Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer). A palm-specific fertilizer can be beneficial as it provides essential micronutrients.
    • Reduce or stop fertilizing in the fall and winter when the plant’s growth slows down.
    • Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant outgrows its pot. Choose a slightly larger pot and refresh the soil to encourage healthy root growth.
