    • Eucomis Sparkling Burgundy Outdoor UK features a robust bulbous base from which multiple long, slender, and glossy burbundy leaves emerge. The leaves form an attractive rosette that provides a lush backdrop to the main attraction—the impressive flower spike. Rising above the foliage, the flower spike showcases a magnificent cluster of individual flowers that command attention.

The top section of the flower spike is adorned with tiny, star-shaped blooms in shades of deep burgundy or purple. This striking color contrast creates a visually captivating effect, making Eucomis a focal point of any garden.

    • 35-40cm in height.

    • 16cm pot.
    • Eucomis, also known as pineapple lily, is a beautiful bulbous plant that can be grown outdoors in the UK. Here are some care instructions to help you successfully cultivate and maintain your Eucomis :

    • Location: Choose a spot in your garden that receives full sun or partial shade. Eucomis prefers a warm and sunny location but can tolerate some shade.

    • Soil: The plant thrives in well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. Amend heavy clay soils by adding compost or well-rotted manure to improve drainage.

    • Planting: Plant the bulbs in spring, after the last frost has passed. Dig a hole that is about twice the depth of the bulb and place it in the hole with the pointed end facing upwards. Space the bulbs around 15-20 centimeters apart.

    • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water the plant regularly during the growing season, especially during dry spells. Reduce watering in the winter to prevent the bulbs from rotting.

    • Mulching: Apply a layer of organic mulch, such as compost or bark chips, around the plants to help retain moisture and suppress weed growth. Ensure the mulch is kept away from the base of the plant to prevent rot.

    • Fertilization: Feed Eucomis with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring when new growth emerges. Follow the instructions on the fertilizer package for application rates.

    • Support: As the plant grows, it may require some support to prevent flopping. You can use stakes or bamboo canes to provide support and tie the leaves gently if needed.

    • Pruning: Remove any dead or yellowing leaves to maintain the plant's appearance. After flowering, you can cut back the flower stalks to the base to tidy up the plant.

    • Overwintering: Eucomis is not fully hardy in the UK and may require protection during the winter. Mulch the area around the bulbs with a layer of straw or bark chips to insulate them from freezing temperatures. Alternatively, you can dig up the bulbs in autumn, store them in a cool, dry place, and replant them in spring.
