    • 50-60cm in height.
    • 17cm pot.
    • Caring for Platycerium bifurcatum, commonly known as the Staghorn Fern, requires understanding its unique needs, as it is an epiphytic plant that typically grows on trees in its natural habitat. Here are some detailed care instructions:

    • Staghorn Ferns prefer bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch their fronds, while too little light can cause poor growth. A north or east-facing window is ideal.
    • Watering depends on the environment. Generally, water once a week in warmer months and every 2-3 weeks in cooler months. Soak the entire plant, including the root ball, in water for 10-20 minutes, allowing it to drain thoroughly before rehanging or reattaching. Mist the fronds regularly to maintain humidity.
    • Staghorn Ferns thrive in high humidity. If the air is dry, increase humidity with a humidifier or by placing a tray of water nearby.
    • They prefer temperatures between 15-27°C. They can tolerate short periods of temperatures as low as 4°C but should be protected from frost.
    • As epiphytes, they do not require traditional soil. They can be mounted on wood, bark, or grown in a loose, well-draining mix designed for orchids or ferns. Use a piece of wood, a wire frame, or a basket filled with sphagnum moss. Secure the fern with fishing line or wire until it anchors itself.
    • Fertilize monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength.
    • Do not remove the brown shield fronds at the base; they protect the root ball and help absorb moisture and nutrients.
